Early birds

We set off in the dark at 5.20am to get to the Toft ferry for 6.30am. We were off to Fetlar with Penny to see if we could catch up with the Tennessee warbler. Alas, we didn't find it, but we did find a Hawfinch - and saved it from a cat. It was looking a bit battered but was feeding well. The area where the warbler should have been was lovely.

We decided to head back to Yell a bit early and check out a bit of the North of the island as Penny hadn't been to Cullivoe yet. On the way we checked out the area an Artic warbler had green seen- but didn't find that either. Its such a nice area. The marina was full of playful seals, but nothing in the bushes nearby.

Cullivid beach is beautiful but not that easy to fina way down. We picked the wrong spot and slid down the dunes before spotting an official, but dodgy looking path. Amazing but quick views of a lovely otter  and lots if gannets.

We had  a lovely day and said goodbye to Penny back at Toft. Lots of laughter. Just what the Doctor ordered.
On the way home we decided we were disappointed we hadn't seen the warbler so Rob wanted to see the Veery again in better light. It really was a show off today!
