Thank you Michael

Michael Owers has been with us since the beginning of our journey with the Haa at Watsness.

Today we said good bye  but we thank him very much for giving the house new life and purpose again and for being a good friend. All the best and we will see you around, we have no doubt.

Jill did lots of shunting around this morning, condensing timber and putting some in the Nissan hut. Also some of the roof slate bags got removed around the back to start making the grounds ready  for extension foundation digging. Alans sheep in the croft looked amused.

We popped out for a bit to see if we could reconnect with yesterday's grebe, but we're unlucky so we did a short drive around and ended up at one of our favourite places, Lunga. The Kirk has had a new cost of paint and this odd sign makes Jill smile.

Surprisingly good day

We had no builders today and Rob had a cardiology appointment ( blood pressure definately better).

As we left Bruce mentioned he had seen an odd bird on the Sandness Road so we aimed to divert. Just as we left, major excitement as the snow buntings where on the drive and stayed put.

We stopped on he way to see if we could find Bruce's bird. Unfortunately not. We made up for this with an otter at Weisdale on the way home.

Whilst watching the otter, Jill got a nice surprise when a Slavonian Grebe popped up in the same spot.

Awesome!
We tried again for the missing bird  on the way home but were still unlucky

Birthday!

This morning started with Jill shifting a fair big of timber to get it out of the weather. There is lots too move.

Jim came over to put the window back in. It now sits perfectly on its new sill so will not leak. A quick sneaky picture without it and

One when we got home in the evening.

It was Jills birthday today so we decided to head to the South. It was an odd day with sunny spells one minute and drizzly sea haa rain the next.
We had some lovely waders on the beach at Sumburgh, along with divers and long tailed ducks. No one else about so Jill just sat on the beach and waited for the birds to get curious.

We stopped briefly at Leebitton to drink some coffee.

It was then off to Scalloway to pick up a Chinese take away. We got there early so checked out the harbour and found these Hooded Crows.

Grand day out

We have both been low the last few weeks but today we managed to get out, and although a bit chilly, it was nice.

There is no resisting the mountain hares. They won't be white for much longer, so we went for a count and had 39!!!

Not much at Melby today so we went somewhere new and visited Da Gaidan at Sand. Its beautiful. I had been told it was palm trees and pirates in one day. Almost!

Then it was Robs choice, so off to the harbour. It was busy with gulls and large numbers of Eider. We found 3 Iceland Gulls.

It was a lovely day

Tidy up

Our great volunteer, Sean, was back today helping Jill in the garden. The chicken shelter got relocated to the new run. A good use of scrap...
