Dodging the rain

Again it was a miserable day and actually not very warm. We statyed at home this morning and Jill moved some more if the old peat around. There is plenty to move!

We went birdwatching at lunchtime, starting our packed lunch early!

First call of the day was the Rugby pitch in Lerwick for an Iceland Gull.

Then it was a meander south to see what we could see. Lots of juvenile Arctic Terns, lots of wheatear young everywhere, razorbills surprisingly still mating and puffins.

The weather deteriorated so we headed home, picking up Whooper Swan, Glaucous Gull and Tufted Duck.

53 species today. Not bad for half day.
