Snow and more snow

Apparently the last time the islands has this much snow was 1995. We arrived back on the ferry at 8.30am, after a fairly rough voyage, to a very cold blizzard in Lerwick. Very helpfully John Garriok was able to taxi us south to collect the car from Sumburgh airport. It actually was not too bad southwards but some dramatic skies.

Once in Lerwick again we picked up some clothes and bits from tescos and booked ourselves into a b and b for a couple of nights. This was definately the right call. We tried to get home to pick up some bits and check on things but couldn't get past Walls. We did a lovely slide backwards down the hill at the Bridge of Walls.

All the way we were seeing the terrific sse staff beavering away uppole.s. They told us they knew of 250 and were finding more and that's without the ones that have cables down. There are whole lines of them. At Weisdale they were still working in the dark.

Lerwick was busy sleeting and raining so it's not so bad there.

We are hoping the ploughs will have time to do the smaller roads tomorrow we think the power will be off for quite a while.
