Like waiting for a bus

We did a few bits round the house and headed to Lerwick for some shopping and a bandage change on Robs foot. It's definately on the mend now.

While we were  in the shop trying to sort out why our router and Internet weren't working, news came out of a 2nd Myrtle Warbler right next to the first one.  For some reason, our router needed a factory reset but once that was done we headed back to Bigton. You would think that with 2 birds of the same species popping up so close to each other, they would be regular visitors, but far from it. There have been very few sightings in the UK. The 2nd bird was in a small row of pine trees below the location of the first. This one didn't have such a yellow rump but had some yellow on its flanks.

Rob couldn't get to this one as the ground was very wet and he is not supposed to get his foot wet. He would also have been unable to climb the fence and traverse the ditches. Jill didn't stay long, but managed to see it well.

We were just heading back to the original one when news broke of a Least Bittern found wandering round Scousbrough sands car park. We got there in about 7 minutes and there were a few watchers there already. Not an easy spot to park, so Jill dropped Rob and headed off to park. An orderly queue was organised so everyone who wanted to, got to see it through a telescope. It really is a perfect little bird. Just a mini Bittern. Unfortunately, however, this little chap did not appear to be doing so well. It was very static and thermal cameras showed it was very cold so it was arranged for it to be taken into care urgently.
We wish you well little chap.

Mad cat lady

It's been a bit drizzly but amazingly mild. So, as there is still a lot of path required, Jill was out there again, mixing cement. Bit ...
