Death of a fireplace

As most of the fireplaces were left in a really bad way,. we wanted to try and preserve at least one that we can put a log burner in. The best candidate is in the old living room as it had not already been filled in. It was last decorated with a 1960's tile.

Unfortunately the tiles had already started to fall off so there was nothing for it...

Hopefully we can clean up the stone mantel and sides to make a nice feature. It will take a bit of elbow grease. Jill's back took a bashing doing the labouring.

Nutmeg was watching us load the rubble for the tip from a distance.

There are now 4 doors almost glossed and hopefully using the new sander means we should be able to paint the hall next week.
