Maggie Helen

Jill planted some more trees in the garden. Most are doing well. The weather us still not as it should be, but it was OK outside if working.

After lunch we drove to the Shetland museum and archives to look at the Watsness file. Unfortunately, Rob didn't spot they close on Mondays. We did have a lovely chat with Jordan, one of the very knowledgable staff who gave us some of the history of Lerwick. Apparently it was first burnt down in the 1400' s by Scalloway, the then main town. They were unhappy at the Dutch that were there with some very unpleasant habits.

We will pop back another day and we really look forward to it. We need to learn a lot more about Shetland.

While there we took a look at the Maggie Helen. She has been receiving excellent restoration for the last few months after money was raised to protect her.

The board explains her fascinating past better than we can explain.

As we left Jill spotted several orchids growing in the wall like alpine plants.

Before heading to Tesco, we went to Bulter and mulhern to look at our new windows and doors. They are still missing glass but are looking great. The blue is the same colour as the current doors  we think they will look amazing.
