Jubilee time

Yesterday we had a quiet day as we were really tired.  Rob had another gp appointment, they are so thorough here!

In the evening we had a Street Party in Catherine and Finlay's amazing barn. It was lovely to meet some of our new neighbours. The food was fabulous and we felt so welcome.

No more pictures as we were too busy enjoying ourselves.
It was a second late night but well worth it.
Today was yet another bonfire day. We are gradually getting through the pile of rotten timber. One of our new neighbours popped by to say hello. Frances is  our 3rd nearest neighbour and rescues Shetland ponies. What a cracking thing to do.  We showed her round and she came up with a few really good suggestions.
We had a break this afternoon but stayed local. We visited a new place and Jill had a long walk along the shore of Olas Voe looking for a King Eider that wasn't there! Lots of whimbrel about and 5 seals followed the whole way back. We had a really showy skylark too.

We took the round route home and found 3 Great Northern Divers. That were showing off to each other, calling and mating. They were distant but it was fascinating.

Just round the corner from home we found these. Not that unusual in hear you say ( not that good on orchids but think they are spotted)

But when we show you this

Every pink dot is an orchid. Amazing sight.

  1. That skylark was amazing and knew it! Amazing to see so many orchids - and you won't have to fight the council not to mow those ones!
