Roof time

Well, Michael and Connor got stuck into the roof today as the weather was quite calm. ( Although it got windier as the day went on). Rather them than us up there. It's held together with dodgy cement and expanding foam.

Today we finalised the idea we had on the outside walls. It is quite an austere building so we want it to live again. It will be white. Rob did lots of research and it seems there is a clear winner. We ordered 10 tubs of Earls mineral paint from the mainland to be shipped over  ( Thank you Northern Paints and Coatings for all your advice - luckily David's wife is a big BBC Shetland fan)

The sun shone for a bit so Jill could do a bit more in the walled field. It looks grand until it grows again, and then of course some more horizontal washing was called for.  Think it might be time to approach some peg companies for testing!

Off to Bixter for some more gas and petrol. Lucky the fuel price is almost the same everywhere so gone are the days of shopping around.

There were a couple of small roads to investigate so we headed off to Tumblin which was very pretty and then a detour to Staneydale temple. Its a neolithic site with a nice walk and a stone circle.

Nice bonus was Jill found some grouse on the way up

There are no large numbers of Wheatear about everywhere

Oh and a couple of yesterday's kittiwakes
