Rare find

Another quick wander down to the plantation  was disappointing but there was a new flower, marsh violet, trying  to lift its head in 25 mile an hour winds.

Michael and Connor didn't get on the roof till the wind subsided mid morning, then the sun came out and it was glorious. Jill did some planting and dug up a pair of old scissors and a rare ancient pottery bowl (with mallorca written on it!) It was then time to finish filling the knotweed with weed killer. 450 stalks now filled to the brim.

Rob has been working hard in the hall and it is looking good. Not long now before we can paint.

We finished the day's jobs and headed out after lunch to see if we could find the Golden Oriole that had been seen earlier in the day. After trying 2 locations without success we did some general birding and wildlife watching. It proved fruitful with some nice birds at Grutness and one or two bits at Sumburgh.

We headed home and just as we were passing Sandwick the message came out that yesterday's Bluethroat was still there so we turned off at literally the next junction and 4 minutes later we were watching it. Super bird.

We were going to be late home so a quick dash to Lerwick for a Magnos take away. Every mouthful was being watched.

Then home just in time for another stunning one of these:
