Day trip to Unst

We had planned to leave early, but didn't as it was horrid weather and very wet. A Serin had been on Unst all week but we hadn't been able to go so we were delighted to finally get the chance.

We left at lunchtime and were there pretty amazed to get straight on ferries without much waiting.

The weather improved and we got to Norwick. The bird was in our friends garden and he very kindly allowed us to drive right up to his garage so Rob could stay in the car and watch the feeder. The Serin came in straight away.

It did go back and forth, disappearing for short whiles, but it showed well.

While we were waiting there were some funny moments watching rock doves getting anxty with each other over a lady Dove.

It starts with posturing.

Then they clip each other with their wings sizing each other up.

Then it's all out going for it.

The Sparrows were also getting in on the act.

On the way home we spotted a nice whimbrel.
