Oops!

First thing we headed to Lerwick to the council office so Rob could change over his blue badge to a Shetland one. It has perks. 2 free ferry trips to Aberdeen.

We then picked up a few bits from Jewson and headed back.

The plumbers had started ripping out the old heating system, emersion tank and toilet. Michael and Connor were up on the roof finishing off the back face. All good....

Jill dropped Rob in drive and reversed out the drive  to keep it clear for builders - forgetting the well. Oops, car now stuck in well.

Massive thanks to the lovely Michael Owers and Connor Taylor for towing me out. Thankfully car is fine. Hole now covered.

That's 2 things gone pear shaped in 2 days. Hmmm. We think you know what happens next....

..

Water, water everywhere.....

The brass coupling on the water main sheared off, water spurting all over the place. Sorry didn't get a photo at the beginning as there were 2 plumbers in the hole. Huge thanks to Mitchell and the gang for their fast reactions. They dug a hole to find the main outside and clamped it off. Phew. We did call Scottish water who finally came out as we couldn't find the stop cock. The one we thought we found and tried in the morning, turned out to turn off all the houses in Dale of Walls. Oops. Even the friendly Hamish can't find it. We all think it has been plowed. He is bringing back his 3 apprentices next week to look. Hopefully the temporary connector will work.

Just as well this happened now or our new bathroom would have been wrecked.

One good thing we found, the plumbers removed the ipes in the doorway so removed wood. Behind is the stone wall which shows the front face of the original wall and it was painted white. This is good news as we can now go back to planning who have said we can't paint the outside unless it was white before.

Hopefully tomorrow will be less stressful!

Checking up

The storm earlier in the week was a bit worrying with the seal pups still on the beach in the cove. Had to wait for the snow to melt to mak...
