Hare brained

Yesterday  Sarah , and her daughter came over to go and find some hares. The weather was perfect for it, if a bit chilly, the sun was shining so the hares were all sat out enjoying the nice sun. As Shetland Mountain hares use old rabbit burrows so sometimes you just see the ears.

We visited Melby and Norby beaches too. It was a lovely day.

Today, we popped over to Unst to look for the Bonapartes Gull that has been around for a few days. We hoped to find the Kumleins/Thayer's gull that we missed in January but it hadn't been around for a couple of weeks. Most think, due to its size, that it's a Thayer's but they are difficult to split.

There was still a large flock of Long tailed ducks.

We only briefly had the Bonapartes Gull before the weather really closed in.
