Good falls of both lapwings and Golden plover yesterday right by the house.
Jill has had a cold but is feeling better so she went to get some breakfast items for our new guests. She stopped at Twatt to see the Pectoral Sandpiper. Distant but, a Shetland tick.
Our guests are off to Unst so left early. We went out for a bit as Jill changed her PA day. ( didn't want to share the cold). We needed a break from all the angst over the heating leak
We had lots of both continental and European blackbirds.
Plenty of house Sparrows and some Siskin at Quendale. But no Red Breasted Flycatcher.
We saw a few other birds on the way home.
While we were at Quendale and fellow birder pointed out a very tiny hedgehog that wasn't moving. It is very tiny and underweight for the time of year and was cold. We brought it home and are trying to encourage it to eat. At least it isn't dehydrated. It is in a box on the heated floor to warm it up. Fingers crossed.
