Pea Souper

Thick haa this morning  so another shot at the lovely Skerries before the season ends. It was drizzling until we headed out to see but it gradually  stopped and the sun actually came out for  bit. It ended up being lovely until just as we left.

We got some good birds again. More Icterine Warblers, Lesser Whitethroats, Chiffchaffs and Red- backed Shrikes

We missed the Nightjar that was on the islands. Jill went looking but dint find it. Did find an otter though.

While we were having lunch we got lucky. Rob spotted a bird on the wires so  Jill took some photos. Not an easy id as it was into the light but worked out it's a 1st year male Rustic Bunting.

Unfortunately it moved on quickly and was lost to sight  so we couldn't got out friends Ann and Chris on it.

We then went and had coffee with our new friends Bert and Jilly who live on the islands in a gorgeous house with stunning views. They have  lived there about as long as we have but have some good stories of the history and life in general. Beautiful place but you have to be special people to live there. There electricity prices are eyewatering!!!!!

Another awesome day on the Skerries
