Multiple Shags

Today was ha at the Haa all day.

Bruce and Jill worked on sanding the bedroom. Jill did the easy bit and sanded the screws holes, Bruce did the harder bits. It's actually gone on really well and didn't need much touching up.

Jill did some gardening clearing tracks in the grass to the new trees so they can be watered. Then cleared round the gorse and flax. The channel drain at the top of the drive was starting to fill with gravel so that got cleaned out to.

Jill decided to see what the weather was doing elsewhere. Surprisingly, everywhere but Walls and Watsness where sunny by 3pm.

It was quite busy there so Jill went along the coast a bit. It was interesting watching the terns steal food from puffins as they surfaced to have it swiped by Arctic Skuas.
Lots of shags too.

It got busier so Jill moved on, finding this nice juvenile lapwing and skylark on the roadside.

Onwards to near Skeld for another look for last year's Merlins, but no luck today. Lovely wheatear family though. Jill felt like she was being watched- she was.

Spotted Jim's dog, Fergus, on the way to Reawick and stopped to say hi to Christine, Jim's wife. It was good to finally meet.

At the beach it was totally empty, well apart from lots of Terns, Shags and a  Red throated Diver. It was ridiculously calm an peaceful in the sun. Just on the other side , it was low mist like at home.

On the beach was some small but mighty colourful yellow bedstraw.

There is a sweet house right on the beach at Redayre that has lots of chickens. Jill really likes these ones and will have to find out what breed they are.

 Nice little trip out.

Scenic trip out

Still snow on the ground so there has been nothing going on with the house. Unfortunately the new tablet Rob has been on for his heart made...
