Jill's PTSD has been bad recently so an early start and a good wildlife day was called for. There had been a Hoopoe at Hoswick for the last few days and this is a favourite.
Unfortunately an hour and a half of searching in the rain didn't relocate it but there were lots of soggy chiffchaff.
So we headed down to Sumburgh and got lucky with a few puffins and some migrants.
Then at Grutness we had lots of waders.
As we headed back the info came out that the Hoopoe was back so we went for another look. Lots of garden birds about and it made a quick show under a gate.
Although it was windy and soggy it was s good day with 63 species.
We watched the coronation highlights on our return. Not really royalists but the Choral work was amazing as was the craftsmanship on show.
