Today we headed back to Lerwick for yet another medical appointment for Rob, which actually was a bit if a waste of time. Still, since we have been here that's the first time, so not a problem. We did a quick visit to the lovely Fjara for lunch we headed to the archives to get some information on the house.
Public toilets are always worth a visit for the poetry. No, honestly.
Everywhere these can be found they are worth a read.
At the archives the chappie who works there had already found some information. It was very exciting. The first was a bundle of hand written documents from the Scottish Church. Dated 1779, they were the original estimates for the cost of building the house including things like 3000 nails and 30 buckets of lime gor the outside of the house.
The coincidence was that the names of the builders were James Leslie and Robert Craigie. For those that don't know- Robs middle name is Craig!!!! The stonemason was Mr Marshall.
There were other documents going a bit further in time but the archivist has said he will find some more and we will go back next week. It will be amazing to copy and frame some of these. They charge 20p per copy. An absolute bargain.
On the way home we visited Cope Ltd and they had a 2nd hand motability scooter which we have bought for Rob. Hopefully it will get him down to the Loch for some fishing.
