Railly great

 We actually saw the big yellow round thing in the sky for a bit today.

The cats liked the weather better. Spice even came in to say hello, and to get his food!

The wildflowers in the garden seemed to be more cheerful too.

As it was still this morning, Jill sprayed the reachable bits if the roof,  from the veluxes, with chloris to kill the lichen. One and a half sides done, the rest needs a big ladder. Then it was a bit mire work upstairs sanding round the windows and starting to paint round them.

Bruce had a fiddly job if putting the rail up on the stairs.

Jill also started on the shuttering in the blue barn  for some concrete and sanded down some more spindles from the tip.

We made the most of the nice evening and popped out. It felt like a real treat!

Also found a picture on the camera from the other day. Distant shot so left it, but it's a Sparrowhawk.

Busy bees

 The weekend has been non, stop painting, pva ing sanding, cornering and laying lino in the cupboard.. now have 5 coats on the red!

Jill is very pleased with the window edges round the plasterboard. also skimmed under the cupboards. 

The weather is still grim but some walkers went out to the Wick today. They were very interested in our Shetland life. They are stopping g for a few days on a boat in the harbour. It was very lovely to meet them and their English was better than they seemed to think!

Robs choice revealed

 Jill did some painting first thing, finishing 2nd coat in the cupboard. Then it was the usual Friday hospital appointment.

On our return, Bruce had completed the ogee round the door and window. We need to buy some more!

Jll did most of the 2nd coat on the light walls and then went for it with Robs choice. Deffo needs a 2nd coat.

Jill now remembers why he doesn't get to choose colours. It certainly makes a statement!

The cats have been busy rushing about and are abit stressed over the missing porch so we had cuddles

There it was,gone

 An exciting day today. It's finally gone.

Kenneth, the driver, also took away all the stuff that came out of hole and we are pleased it has a purpose just up the road.

Bit worried about ending up with a huge swimming pool though.

While that was happening Brue was doing the ogee' s inside.

Jill did the first coat in the cupboard and Rob did a second. Horrible paint, got used to Farrow and Ball!!

Jill also put  a second coat on the green and caulked round the cupboard.

Letting Rob choose

 Lots of paint flying around today. Jill pva'd the downstairs and started painting. 2nd coat on the green and ceiling, lime white on the remaining walls downstairs and some upstairs.

Bruce was back a d plasterboarded the velux ingos. Looks tidy now but need to get some more tape and another tub of plaster group.

Have decided to let Rob pick a colour for this wall. It's OK it's out of the way! Watch this space.

The digger is here tomorrow. Exciting times!

No Bruce

 It was the Jim and Jill show yesterday as Bruce picked up covid while on his holidays. Hopefully he will be well enough to come back on Wednesday. Get well soon!

Jim finished skimming the long stair drop and fixed up the last corners downstairs.

Jill got the pva out and slapped a coat on upstairs. The cupboards also got their first coat.

Jill got creative finally deciding to use seaglass in the holes in the porch lintel and shells by the front door.

Today was just Jill day with a bit of Rob hoovering and sanding.

The ceiling got its first coat.

And we tried out a colour.

It feels like we haven't stopped for ages so, as the sun finally showed itself, we headed out- only for it too cloud over.

Sandness was a nice break though. Lots of Sandiloos ( Ringed plover)
