It seemed today was the day for Curlew to be on the move with their newly hatched chicks. After dropping off at the post office and buying biscuits, Jill did a few diversions on the way home, starting at Whitesness.
It's a very quiet road . On Gruting Voe, there was a large group of male eider around the mussel beds.
On the way back Jill spotted an adult Curlew on a wall. Then 4 chicks came out of the grass and came right up to the fence by the car. So sweet.
The adults were quite happy watching.
Until another Curlew came calling. It got pretty violent.
On the way home, Jill spotted a further 11 youngsters.
