Yearly trip to Fetlar

We had planned to go to the Skerries again but the weather wasn't very good so we changed tack as the wind wouldn't bring more migrants in, and went to Fetlar.

We always like a spring trip for the peerie Red-necked Phalaropes.

It was a bit drizzly on the way over.

There is a good spot where you can pull up and use the car as a hide.Thos means Rob can see them too. At least 3 pairs showed. Lovely!

They are a protected species so viewing is, of course, at a distance.

Lots of male Dunters loafing about.

Also oodles if wildflowers.

Including a new one, Mountain Everlasting we believe.

While Jill was crawling around looming for flowers two Red- throated divers came to take a look.

On the way home we nearly had a disaster. We popped past our friend Penny's house to catch up. We stopped at the public loos in Scalloway. Very grateful they are there but someone needs to clean the toilets and not drown them. Rob is not stable at the best of times and went base over apex on the wet floor. He has a sore knee today!

We did make it to Penny's. Her house and garden are looking good.
Today was back on the house.
Jim and Bru e struggled a bit as it kept raining and was pretty gusty. They did get some more done.

Jill put the hinges on the gate but it was too windy to attach..

Also Jill finished of the ceiling in the bathroom. First mitering job in the bag.

Then we had a treat. One if Bruce's friends; Keith came and fitted out stair and landing runner. Tickled pink. It looks lovely. We picked a red trim as it matches the other colours and the previous owner had a red runner before
