The one that got away

Odd sort if day. It started really badly when Jill went to feed the new chicken girlie's. A mammal, weasel or polecat had dug in and slaughtered all three. Devastating! Three lovely girlie's gone just like that. It's also sad as it means we have had to put traps out. Big sigh!

Have borrowed a trap from Alan and a small one from Bruce. Will see what happens next.

Luckily Ted and his gang are all fine.

In the house, Bruce is finishing the porch woodwork.

The foam gun threw a wobbly. Looks like a face in there.

Jill did some gloss painting in the landing and down the stairs.

This evening took an interesting turn. Just by Melby House on our trip out, we both saw a bird land on the road in front of the car. It was obvious straight away it was something different. It was side on so we got a brief but good view of its long upright tail, pot belly and big size. It hopped to the wall so Rob could see it through his binoculars. We both knew it was  a Towhee! An Eastern Towhee in the UK a 2nd for Britain!!!!! ( we have seen them in the States)It called and flew off. Didnt even get a chance for a photo. Unfortunately Jill couldn't refind it but we put the news out for help. The light was going fast  and even with extra help it didn't reappear. Gutted. It would have been better for everyone else to see it too. Hopefully it will be around in the morning.

It started a bit murky but ended up being a lovely day. We did get a new garden  Tick first thing, but no photos. A reed bunting. Too cold ...
