Local patch

As the weather was a bit rough this morning we actually had a lie in and went out just before lunch. ( Although Jill did run a hoover round in the porch to clear up the pointing dust)

We did the local bit getting Yellow Browed Warbler and a distant Great Northern Diver. Quite a few gannets at Melby too.

We stopped for packed lunch at the Bridge of Walls and watched a cormorant that's eyes were literally bigger than its belly. The fish  it caught was huge so it had to spit it back up and halve it before it could swallow. Not what you want when eating lunch!

Then we checked out some tree patches on the way to Sand. Da Gairdens was looking lovely but disappointingly was very quiet. Lots of Collared Doves and Blackbirds but that was all.

We were then thinking of going home but the news that the Bluethrost was still showing well in Lerwick changed our minds. Apparently it was showing well. It wasn't. Actually quite distant but still good to see. Nice female.
