It was another glorious morning so we left mid morning on a slow meander. Jill wanted to finally find the Huxter Puffins and so we started at Melby. The first thing was very entertaining. A grey seal appeared to get stuck in the seaweed and then got in a strop with it.
The Puffins ended up being exactly where Jill thought, even though a local sent her much further down the cliff path. This did mean that she also spotted the structure of cliff that holds the fossil beds. After walking further than expected she didn't have long to look so will go back one day with more time.
Lots of juvenile wheatears and rock pipits too.
We heard that the Pacific swift had been seen again at Boddam , we had missed it in the week and Rob had been ill. Unfortunately, we didn't refind it but spent a happy hour watching the coast at Boddam. We also met up with our friend Penny who is looking really well.
Lots to see though.
Before heading home we had brief stops at Grutness and Sumburgh. It was fairly quiet at both but a lovely pair of Shelduck made it worth it.
We had a quick curry on the way home and got in at 10.30pm. Our neighbours Kaila and Merran were enjoying the evening too.
