New face

Alan, the crofter, mentioned that he had seen a 4/5 month old kitten in his barn. We had been keeping an eye but hadn't seen anything. Today Jill was painting the wheelie bin store at the top of the drive  when Nutmeg, the feral cat, came out of the barn followed by a peerie cat.

What a cutie. We are putting out food and hopefully we can get Cats Protection to trap and neuter. (And mum) we think it is a fella looking at head size so have named him Spice.

Michael was back today working on the 2nd bedroom upstairs.

Patrick has been creating a new chook house as clearly the old one won't last in the wind up here.
Jill did some more peat shifting and some pointing in the room that will be the bathroom upstairs.

Rob had a Doctors appointment so we went to the surgery. The light over the sea was beautiful.

Then a quick drive out to West Burrafirth  gave us quite a few thrushes, a couple of grey herons, an unusual looking fungi and the ever present watchful eye of a seal

The sea was really calm. We hadn't noticed the broch before. Apparently it was occupied by a viking invader who built a stone causeway across to it but it has now eroded away.

The light was going fast so we headed home and stopped at the pier where we had over 100 curlew overhead going to roost and a big glock of golden Plover.
