It would have been churlish to not pop over to Unst today to see the lovely drake Harlequin Duck at Norwick. It showed really well. We drove over 500km along the Dempster Highway in the Northwest Territory looking for them.
We saw lots of other birds too. The weather was a bit up and down but the Sanderlings looked like they were standing in liquid gold at one point.
Rob managed to hobble down too.
When the weather finally turned for the worse at lunchtime we left and bought a great lunch at the Vintage Tea rooms. We also stopped at the Underhoull Longhouse on the way to the ferry.
Fabulous pictures!
ReplyDeleteThank you Penny. To be fair it was one of the easiest rarities ever!
