Well maybe not the best of choices as it was pretty cold, wet and windy all day, but we had a great day.
We did really well with the ferries until we discovered that the Blue Mull ferry would close down all afternoon due to lack of staff. This meant the ferry we were due to return in was cancelled so we had a slightly nervous wait for the 19.40 one. However, with super customer service, the company managed to get it going again and called to let us know. We did opt to stay on the 19.40 but were impressed they called.
Of course we had to visit the Fetlar cafe for coffee and cake - a lovely facility and a great place to catch up on bird news. We were recommended a walk for possible puffins to The Snap from Funzie beach. Amazing walk and scenery but alas, no puffins.
Target species of Red-necked Phalarope achieved at Aith beach.
The building is the amazing Brough Lodge owned by Scottish Heritage. Its a pity they don't seem keen to finish it. We
suspect they are also having issues with planning!
