Another skulker

 It's been a quiet week this week.

 Jim has been back and tidied up the fascias at the back and put the guttering up. Feels like a real house now!  Just needs a downpipe.

We had our usual Friday appointment in town . Robs foot is healing again after the sepsis and Jill ordered some new glasses. 

The weather has been nice but there haven't been many migrants as the weather is blowing from the North.  We did catch up on the Corncrake' s at Tingwall Loch, although we only saw one of the family group. As per usual it skulked which is par for the course with this week's birds. First ever photos of a corncrake though.

The attic insulation  is coming along. It's messy cutting insulation.

The licence came through this week so we can start advertising for accommodation bookings soon

Two tick day

 Yesterday was very wet so Bruce did a few bits outside and then went home to dry off. Jill was feeling rubbish, probably the anti biotics, and Rob did some paperwork. Bit boring for the blog really.

Today , however, was sunny with the odd peerie shower.

We headed off for the surgery to get Ribs foot checked. While there news broke of a lancelated warbler at Levenwick so off we popped. We spent 3 hours staring at bits of grass waiting for it to move. It did, and we saw it, but it wasn't hanging around for photos! 

Then we went to Sumburgh and Grutness. Island tick of a smart Lapland bunting, spotted flycatcher and brief rb flycatcher.

The news broke of a Pallas's grasshopper warbler at Maywick  we arrived quickly but missed the best views. Did see it in flight though several times. 2 nice new birds for Jill today.

Rob feeling well enough to go out

 We took it carefully over the weekend and got some paperwork done. Unhappy with the hall skirting- that came off again.

Jill also cleared up some of the mess in the attic.

Rob had his eyechecked again and it's already looking better. Tommy the town cat was in Specsavers.

Rob is still tired but fancied getting out so we went to one of our favourites, Out Skerries. Bit choppy on the way out but he had a snooze.

A few migrants on the umblifers and bushes. Mainly Yellow Browed Warblers, Blackcaps and Chiff chaff but also a Red breasted flycatcher and Jill and Will Carter found a Slavonian Grebe. It was being teased by a seal which kept popping up underneath it.

Rob will sleep well tonight. Good bit of car window birding!
