Boring stuff

It was a super dooper day with glorious sunshine all day so it was outside doing chores. Jill did some more cleaning the car. The carpets had a good scrub. This afternoon the grass got cut. See told you it was boring.

Bruce is still working on the kit of parts outside. It's coming along nicely but we've decided it's going to be a surprise. So no photos yet.

As it was so nice we had a run down to Melby. The tide was the furthest out we have seen it but there were still lots of waders and a few common and Arctic Terns left.

There were several seals enjoying the shallow water and weed.

There was some high jinx with a hidden bonxie on the Holm. It was sneaking up on diving gannets as they popped up out of the water like corks.

There was plenty to see.

Spice was waiting for his tea.

It was a beautiful evening.

Never too old!

The weather has been good this week so Bruce has been cutting timber and working on the frame. It's going to be very solid which is great with the wind that howls round the house sometimes.

Jill finished off the edge of the stairwell today. It looks much tidier.

Today we headed to town for some training thanks to Shetland business Gateway  and Rene at TUMINDS. Never to old to learn something knew!

It was very useful, especially the afternoon AI course. Both will be of benefit for the new businesses. We will now have to do lots of finny video clips for tiktok!.

While we were in town, we dropped in the paperwork for our accommodation license. Apparently there have been no objections so we should get our certificate soon.

Fixed the hole

While Bruce was waiting for the black Jack to dry on the new frame concrete, he chambered about and tucked the new corrugated plastic into the hole in the byre roof. It's been broken for many years but now let's in lots of light instead of being covered by ply.

Jill collected all the bits of old plastic and had a good clear up.

As the house stone walls definately aren't straight, Bruce has created an addition to the frame that will allow it to be straight!

This afternoon Jill started sorting the car out ready to swap for the new one.the boot got the first clean. It did take a while as it has been used for lots of tip runs!. Quite pleaseswith the first clean.

It took a while cleaning of the plasterboard and picking off insulation.

Very rude!

You always make the best of good weather here, so it was off to Out Skerries today. A few early migrants are passing through, and although we didn't have big numbers it was a good day. Rob finally ticked Swift for Shetland, we had 3. Apart from that it was the usual chiffchaffs, Willow Warblers, swallow, pied flycatchers- and a pair of peacocks.

Yup peacocks ( pet ones naturally)
It was good to get 3 pipits in the same day. Mega numbers of meadow, a few rock and two tree.

A pair of otters had a tiff in the bay. One just left the scene

But the 2nd hung around- clearly in a bad mood. Put that tongue away!

Good day!

Trolls

Jill went shopping , but the ferry wasn't in so Tesco's shelves were empty. She decided to wait for them to stick up, so went for a...
