Easy peasy

Another stunning classic winters day. Simply beautiful. Interesting clouds too.

Jill popped over to the vets to pick up the cat trap we are borrowing from SSPCA. The staff and Jill couldn't get it to work, so it was over to Bruce. Who knew a cat trap needs  an Allen key.

Bruce swapped out  a floorboard upstairs, did another coat on the skirting and oiled the floor to protect it. Jill painted the wall at the top of the stairs.

Rob had a surgery appointment so we had a nice drive down to Walls. The house looked lovely as we came over the hill.

As it got dark, Jill got all the cats in and put the trap in the Nissan hut where she has been putting food out. Within seconds Nutmeg appeared, went in the trap. Leant over the trigger and picked up the pot of Tuna in her mouth. One toss and it was outside the trap. She had a nice free meal!. Jill put a 2nd batch in a heavy bowl and in less than 5 minutes...

She is currently in the room upstairs, warm and dry. We have left food water and a towel in the trap as we daren't let her out. Major hiss and spit if you move the trap but calm In-between. It's -6 outside tonight so we hope she is enjoying a bit of warmth.worried if the other youngster is still alive and outside.

There was a hint of aurora tonight and the stars were beautiful. Still as anything and stuffing cold!!!!

Geri is doing well and is much better. Rob has discovered she loves a tummy rub. Weird!!!

Just discovered the odd cloud was steam release from the gas plant as the heating system failed.

Bitty day

Jill finished round the edges of the floor with the sander upstairs while Bruce rehung the bedroom doors and finished putting in the skirting.

The landing really has come a long way. T9he floor needs wax oiling an we have runners to put down.

This afternoon Rob had an eye check so we did a bit of shopping and collected his new glasses.

Geri seems a lot better today. She gets the odd head shake but is walking better. Unfortunately she decided to pee on our bed though!

Floppy is definately not good

Very stressful night. Before we went to bed Geri was acting weird and trembling . We sort of put it down to a stressful few days but Jill stayed up with her most of the night. By 6am she couldn't control her head and kept falling over and going floppy. Scary stuff!

Emergency vet time. They thought it was to do with the worms and either a reaction to the drontal or blood stream worms dying in her brain. Poor little sausage. So first thing, taking it careful with all the ice, it was off to Bixter to see the nice vet.

So, it's wait and see time. She didn't have breathing problems nor had she been sick which was good. She was in fact still stuffing her face!. She is dehydrated from passing the peerie beasties. She had had anti inflammatory and anti biotics and we have kept her calm and warm all day.

She is still stuffing her face but we have moved everything she needs close together.

The light was again glorious and we did spot a single Goldeneye at Bridge of Walls.

Early afternoon Jill delivered our first customers stretched canvas. Also popped over to see our lovely neighbour Frances who has lent us a trap to try and catch the other two.

The good news is that this evening Geri seems a bit better. Some head control and she can just about stand again. Phew.

More mess

There was a wee aurora last night early on.

Very cold again today. Jill headed out at lunchtime to go to Cope. They had a big sale of furniture and Jill picked up some doors, chairs and a toilet!

The drive back was pretty.

There is an otter in there somewhere.

Back at the house Jim came over and with Jill started looking at the old kitchen. Cupboards all down and we have taken some plasterboard off to see how much damage there is. Jim found an attic hatch and the damage is a lot less than we thought. There was a sheet of plastic up there full of water.

Creating space

Bruce has been putting in skirting upstairs. The plasterboard didn't come down far enough so the skirting had nothing for to attach too. New plasterboard added.

Did some moving around today. The new porch has been 'borrowed' for a few weeks and is  pretending its a utility room!

The old kitchen is nearly empty. Will take some photos tomorrow before we start stripping plasterboard off to see what's behind.

It was a mighty spectacular day - if a bit chilly

The drive to Lerwick for shopping, tip and hospital was lovely.

We got back and Jill worked with Jim removing the last of the old units.

Geri is settling well and the worming tablet appears to have worked. Our lovely neighbour, Frances, is lending us a cat trap to see if we can catch the other 2. Cans of tuna at the ready........

Lovely guests leaving and lovely guests arriving

We are amazingly lucky to be getting such fabulous guests. This morning we said goodbye to four and another four arrived this evening. The ...
