A bit better

This virus thingy has wiped us both out but today, finally there is improvement. Rob managed to stay up and we managed to get out for a bit for some fresh air

We did our usual patch and spotted a smart summer plummage Great Northern Diver.

The usual Sanderlings and Ringed plovers on the beach.

While Jill was watching waders and baby bunny came to be nosey.

On the way home we saw our friend Jackie's new foal. So sweet!

We were tired when we got home but hopefully we can get some birdwatching in this weekend.

Bit more

We are both still poorly so it's fairly quiet here. We even missed a really special Summer plummage grey phalarope. To icky to go!.

Jim and Jill built some frame for the extension today. One wall done.

We also put in the holes for the water pipes and electricity to go through.

Cement mud pie time to hold them in place!.

Being poorly the grass hasn't been loved and cut but we have 2 orchids in the lawn again.

Have a plant in the garden we were given 2 years ago and it has just started to flower. Haven't a clue what it's called.

Jill has decided to submit some entries for the Walls show this year  so spent the evening deciding on categories.

Eyebrows to die for

Well, much to our surprise, Eyebrow Thrush was still there and the weather was better, so taking it carefully as we are both still full of cold we again headed to Yell. It was good to already know that if it showed Rob could get to see it too.

It didn't disappoint.

In between appearances we were entertained by Siskin, Crosshill, Icterine Warbler, Willow Warbler, Blackbirds and House Sparrows.  Busy garden!

We left at lunchtime when the wind picked up and it started to rain. Unfortunately the ferry was very busy since we had to wait an while which was a bit rubbish as Jill just wanted to get home and sleep. Really nasty cold this one.

Thank you to the other birdwatchers who made space so Rob could lean on the wall.

In the wrong place

The weather held during the day andit was quite warm on the Skerries. We both have stinking colds so some fresh sea air was good.

Our friend Matt had already found a Rosefinch  we had several attempts before we finally got good views.

It was bouncing around with Meadow pipits.

Not much else but 5 swallows came in off the sea.

Hundreds of orchids. And a tiny flower yet to be identified.

Lunchtime, news broke of an eyebrowed thrush on Yell. Typical! A tick for Jill and Shetland tick for both. Jill's cold was getting bad so we had to see how things were when we got off the Skerries.

We decided to go but it didn't give much time to get to Toft for the Yell ferry.

It started to rain heavily.

Unfortunately, possibly due to the weather it only showed for a millisecond. But it did also call. No photos- but we did find 2 Crosshill.

Its ruff

Jill finished laying the slates by the door. Just need to finish the steps now that's done. Today we were supposed to go to Out Skerrie...
