Snow on the way

Still mighty chilly and flurries of the white stuff. It is due to drop snow several days this week. So, we decided to stay in this morning allowing Jill to do some pointing. Before and after shots.

We popped out for a bit as Rob wanted to see the lovely Iceland Gull again before it moves away.

There were really good numbers of oystercatchers about, Red Breasted Mergansers and Hooded crows.

Hopefully we won't get too much snow overnight.!

Hefty wind chill

The sun was shining but by golly there was a cold wind.

Jill tried to get some tidying up outside but it was just too cold.

Michael came by to collect his tools then we went out for a drive. It was the local patch. first turning up the usual hares and grouse. but also a lovely Scarf ( for our Englishfriends, a Shag)

Then it was into Lerwick to visit the garden centre for some plants.

After that we had a late lunch on the pier so Rob could see the Iceland Gull again.

The best driveway ever

Everytime we  come home this is the view down our access road. Got to be one of the best driveways in the world.

We went to Lerwick today to pick up 2 second hand doors and 2 kitchen worktops in Jim's van. We also collected a massive tile for the base of the fireplace upstairs which will be a decorative one.

Mid afternoon, Rob went for a snooze. Jill went out for a bit as it was lovely but it soon changed. Whilst photographing grouse, Jill realised there was a hare very close behind. This meant it was impossible to move without flushing one or the other. Then it started raining. Needless to say drowned rat number two appeared.

But it was good wildlife watching

Our first visitor

Heavy frost overnight but a simply beautiful day so Jim spent his time painting the gable ends as we really need to get the scaffolding down.

Jim also masticed and foamed in yesterday's window.

Jill also worked outside tidying up the front garden ready to dig foundations.

250 slates moved today and 6 bags of rubble. Some if the good slates will be used around the log burner. Another trip to the tip tomorrow!

We have now had our first visitor. Jill's dad died of covid 2 years ago and her sister had some ashes put in a tiny heart.

Lots of lovely sunshine.

 Beautiful day today

Jim took out a window  downstairs so it sits better on the sill. We were having a problem with the horizontal rain we get here.

Jill rebagged some more peat, shifted most of the slate bags and finally planted the Christmas tree. Hopefully the sheep won't get this one!

As it was so lovely Jill had a short break and went down to the beach. It was quiet, but there was lots of seals about and oystercatchers.

Orca had been sited heading up the west coast so after lunch Jill left Rob having a snooze and went to Burrastow in the hope they went that way. Unfortunately they didn't but there was fleeting view of otter, sparrowhawk and lots of Curlews.

Cracking PA day

The weather was changeable, just how Mark likes it, so for PA day we got out and went to Heylor and Eshaness for a bit. After all the rain,...
